Tuku Rakau Education Unit

Originally established to deliver educational programmes to members, Tuku Rakau has over the years provided a series of te reo maori classes on the marae and hosted a number of whanau development wananga. These have assisted with the rekindling of cultural aspects such as waiata, haka, karakia, mihimihi and pakiwaitara.


Seafood industry training wananga have equipped members with valuable knowledge of the fishing industries legislation changes.


Customary Fishing and Compliance courses ran on the marae bring members up to level 3 NZQA qualifications.


New courses in Maori Customary Fishing Practices will continue to be available to members on the marae.
