Te Runanga o Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai Inc.
Notice is hereby given that a special general meeting of Te Runanga o Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai Incorporated will be held at the Whakarongotai Marae, Marae Lane, Waikanae, at 11 am on Saturday, 29 May, 2010. Business will include the election of officers to fill the vacancies that have arisen of Deputy-Chairperson, Secretary and up to three members of an Executive Committee. The Chairman and Treasurer’s positions were filled in the previous election. A further special general meeting will be held at a later date to resume the agenda of the 28 March annual general meeting that was adjourned.
Nominations must be made and seconded in writing by registered voting members of the Runanga and received at least seven working days before the election (Wednesday 19 May).
In the event that more nominations are received than there are vacancies there will be a vote taken. Voting papers will be supplied to the meeting, and a copy of the register of members will be available for inspection. Members may request to exercise their vote by post and such requests must be received in writing at the Runanga Office, P O Box 149, Waikanae, not less than five working days before the election (Friday 21 May).
Postal votes must be received no later than 5 pm on Friday 28 May and must be addressed to: Runanga Returning Officer, P O Box 2032, Wellington.
If insufficient nominations are received for any position further nominations may be called for from the floor of the meeting.
Nominations should include a brief description of the nominee that may be distributed to members prior to the meeting.
The register of members of Te Runanga o Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai Incorporated for this election of officers was prepared by the Runanga in 2002 for the purpose of applying for mandated iwi organization status under the newly adopted constitution. It subsequently also became the register of members of the Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai Charitable Trust, and since 2004 has been jointly maintained and updated by the Runanga and the Charitable Trust. It was last updated on October 9, 2009.
Any member of the iwi who believes they may not be on that register, but who is eligible for membership, may make application to the Runanga Office, P O Box 149, Waikanae.
